Paul's Story

"For many years I travelled the world on business spending huge amounts of time in aeroplanes and hotels eating and drinking great food and wine but without a thought to how this was affecting my body," he explained.
" and it was only when it was too late, when the damage had been done, was I given the wake up call of a type two diabetes diagnosis to make me mend my ways. Following an ultimatum from my Doctor and great advice from my Personal Trainer on nutrition, my healthy balanced fight back began. Maintaining a diet based on Low GI foods together with a program of regular exercise enabled me to take control of my life back.

"In a matter of four months I had lost 15 Kilos in weight and 11 inches off my waist reducing it from 42 to 31. Remarkably, I had become fitter at fifty than I had been at half my age. I started doing daft things like triathlons and long distance cycling. I recently completed my first half marathon for 23 years and in a faster time! Being a diabetic was my stimulus to change. What's yours?

"As someone who likes to eat out, I quickly began to realize that eating in Cafés and Restaurants could become quite problematical for those seeking a wider choice of healthy options to eat and a reasonable range of sugar free drinks from which to choose. Selecting from a menu can be a lottery.

We plan to change that."
